Cosmetic Dentistry at Dutch Barton Dental Practice. Dutch Barton offer a complete range of Cosmetic Dental procedures which include: Dental Veneers What are Dental Veneers? A dental veneer is a thin layer of synthetic material (porcelain or composite) that is placed over the tooth’s surface to improve the tooth’s attractiveness in terms of alignment, colour or shape. A substantial aesthetic effect can be obtained with a veneer and minimal tooth preparation is required. Applying Veneers Veneers are applied to the teeth in 2 visits to the dentist: Visit No. 1: Veneer Preparation The teeth are prepared by removing 0.3 to 0.5 mm of enamel (the thickness of a fingernail) to allow room for the veneer layer. An impression of the teeth is taken and sent to the specialised dental laboratory that will create the veneers. Visit No. 2: Veneer Bonding Bonding involves all the steps that permanently attach the veneer to the tooth. After a cleaning of the tooth, the veneer is bonded to the tooth with special dental cement. This cement is then hardened with a blue curing light. |

Procedure
The first step in the whitening process is impressions. We will take full impressions of your upper and lower teeth. These impressions will be made into custom bleaching trays. The second step is to place the bleaching solution in the trays and wear them for the prescribed time per day or night. Within 7-10 days, you will see a significant improvement in the colour of your teeth. Your smile will look brighter and younger. We will take before and after photos so that you will be able to compare the amazing transformation.
Bleaching only works on natural teeth and may not be effective in all cases. We will inform you as to the whitening potential for your specific situation.

Dental Crowns
What are Dental Crowns?
A crown (or cap) is a precision laboratory-made restoration positioned over a tooth to create a smoother look and enhance strength and durability. When a tooth is cracked, has an old filling, or is severely decayed, the placement of a crown is often recommended. Crowns strengthen and protect the remaining tooth structure and can improve the appearance of your smile.
Types of crowns include:
The full porcelain crown (ideal for use on the front teeth)
The porcelain-fused-to-metal crown
The all-metal crown (ideal for use on the back teeth)
The Dental Crown Procedure
Before placing the crown on the tooth, we painlessly prepare the tooth to make room for the crown (cap). Then an impression of the tooth and the surrounding teeth is taken. A temporary acrylic crown is placed on the tooth. When the permanent crown is ready (1-2 weeks normally), the temporary crowns are replaced with the permanent crown. A crown may last up to 40 years.
