Oral health is an integral part of a child’s overall health. Regular dental examinations for children reduces the risk of developing dental decay. Good dental health, oral hygiene, growth development and tooth alignment are monitored and recorded at every examination. Getting good foundation at an early age is key, and strong emphasis is placed on prevention and education, specifically including cleaning and dietary advice.
Children whose parents attend the practice are seen for regular examination appointments free of charge. If they do require any treatment then this is charged at less than half the price of adult fees. We also offer fissure sealants that act to protect developing adult teeth from possible decay. When fillings or extractions (often for orthodontic treatment) are required, then we aim to make it as comfortable and easy as possible, fully in the knowledge that this is often an anxious time for children and young adults. We talk to children before, during and after treatment to make sure they fully understand what is happening, and we will not begin any treatment until a child is fully ready and comfortable to go ahead with it.
